The prizes of the 20
th
Panorama of European Cinema where awarded yesterday, Sunday, October 21
st
at Ideal Theatre.
This
year
’
s
programme
included
a
wide
selection
of
films
in
9
different
sections
which
were
presented
from
October
11
th
to
October
21
st
in
three
different
cinemas
:
Ideal
theatre
,
Trianon
Filmcenter
and
Mikrocosmos
Filmcenter. 120 films where screened for the Greek audience while a number of these are still showing in Thessaloniki where the Panorama has transferred a part of its programme with the support of Aggelioforos Daily newspaper, at Radio City theatre, till October 24
th
.
11 films were included in this year’s competition section, which the FIPRESCI Jury, comprised of
Salome Kikaleishvili (Georgia)
, Dragan Jovicevic (Serbia) and Dimitris Kalandidis (Greece) described as of “such high quality that it was difficult to choose from”. Their prize however finally went to Mohamad Saleh Harroun’s “Daratt” (Dry Season).
The
prize
of
“
Eleftherotipia
”
was
awarded
to
Col
Spector
’
s
“
Someone
Else
”,
award
given
by
the
director
of
Eleftherotipia
,
Mr
Vaggelis
Panagopoulos
.
Finally the audience’s award was given to Francesca Comencini’s “A Casa Nostra”, and received by Valeria Golino who is starring in it.
The Panorama special awards for their contribution to the art of cinema where given to: Valeria Golino (award presented by President of the Greek Film Center, Mr. George Papalios) Aris Stavrou (award presented by the Director of the Institute of Audiovisual Media, Mr. Rodolfos Moronis) and recently deceased greek Director, Nikos Nikolaidis (award presented by the director of the Cinema Departement of the Ministry of Culture, Ms Dimitra Argirou.
